Louisville Zombie Attack (Zombie Walk)

Zombie Attack was started in 2005 when two friends, John King & Lyndi Lou, realized they had the exact same birthday (August 29) and decided to have a birthday party. they decided on a themed party and a mutual friend offered the use of her bar. They went through several ideas; ninjas, mummies, dead celebrities… and decided on ZOMBIES. In 2006 the attack grew to over 200. since then the party has grown to about 20,000.

The Asylum Haunted Scream Park (being MAJOR fans of Zombies) end up with about 50 incredible zombies from our cast who all go and roam the streets.  Be sure to say HI if you see one of us.

Friggatriskaidekaphobia – Fear of Friday the 13th!

The earliest recorded reference of Friday the 13th having sinister connotations was at the passing of Gioachino Rossino, of whom Henry Sutherland Edwards wrote in a 1869 biography:

“He was surrounded to the last by admiring friends; and if it be true that, like so many Italians, he regarded Fridays as an unlucky day and 13 as an unlucky number, it is remarkable that one Friday 13th of November he died.”

Also from Wikipedia on Friday the 13th:

In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the twelve months of the year, twelve hours of the clock, twelve gods of Olympus, twelve tribes of Israel, twelve Apostles of Jesus, the 12 successors of Muhammad in Shia Islam, etc., whereas the number thirteen was considered irregular, transgressing this completeness. There is also a superstition, thought by some to derive from the Last Supper or a Norse myth, that having thirteen people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners.

Friday has been considered an unlucky day at least since the 14th century’s The Canterbury Tales, and many other professions have regarded Friday as an unlucky day to undertake journeys, begin new projects or deploy releases in production. Black Friday has been associated with stock market crashes and other disasters since the 1800s.

The fear of Friday the 13th has been called friggatriskaidekaphobia (Friggia being the name of the Norse goddess for whom “Friday” is named and triskaidekaphobia meaning fear of the number thirteen)… Try saying that one five times fast. Try saying it even ONCE.

In Spanish speaking countries, Tuesday the 13th, rather than Friday is considered a day of bad luck. In Italian speaking countries, however, it is Friday the 17th that puts the whammy on you. In fact, in Italy, 13 is generally considered a lucky number.

According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day making it the most feared day and date in history. Some people are so paralyzed by fear that they avoid their normal routines in doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. “It’s been estimated that $800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day”.

The Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics (CVS) on June 12, 2008, stated that “fewer accidents and reports of fire and theft occur when the 13th of the month falls on a Friday than on other Fridays, because people are preventatively more careful or just stay home. Statistically speaking, driving is slightly safer on Friday the 13th, at least in the Netherlands; in the last two years, Dutch insurers received reports of an average 7,800 traffic accidents each Friday; but the average figure when the 13th fell on a Friday was just 7,500.”

We have always celebrated Friday the 13th, just because that’s the sort of quirky, offbeat, social revolutionaries we are.

SO…Don’t go hide under your bed, get out and go scare your neighbors, dress quirky and grin randomly at strangers, and get yourselves in the mood for Halloween.. It’s coming soon!

Darkness Falls on Asylum: “This lengthy trail offers plenty of seasonal scares and some unique ones at that.”

Zombie City: “Fantastic dialogue from start to finish! Cast interacts with groups the entire way through, engaging them in conversation. While the engagements aren’t necessarily threatening or scary, the drama and theatrics are by far the best you’ll see in any haunted attraction!”… “Zombie City is an attraction like no other. Not only does it tell a story, but makes you a part of it! Aggressive confrontations are repeatedly warded off by first one defender then another.” … “This unique attraction is definitely not one you want to miss. Get to Asylum Haunted Scream Park, and pay a visit to Zombie City!”

Zombie Hunting:”this live-action spin off of the old carnival shootout games provides another opportunity for fun at Asylum Haunted Scream Park. “Shoot One or Become One!” in the Zombie Hunting interactive paintball experience.”

Carnival of Lost Souls:”Carnivale of Lost Souls is all about having a good time while visiting Asylum Haunted Scream Park.”

Overall: “Many unique opportunities exist at Asylum Haunted Scream Park. Anchored by a traditional haunted trail called Darkness Falls on Asylum, you’re actually given the chance to get involved and participate at the remainder of the attractions, Zombie City, Zombie Hunting, and Carnival of Lost Souls.
